After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia, Phillip continued his graduate studies at the University of North Florida in Guidance and Counseling.

The firm principal began his career in human resources management at Florida Steel Corporation (now known as Gerdau), where he served assignments in North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. His responsibilities included plant level as well as corporate roles. During this tenure, Phillip cultivated professional relationships with industry leaders as well as many of the leading engineering universities in the Southeastern United States.

Decades later, as Senior V.P. of Human Resources at World Color Press, reporting to the Chairman of the Board, Phillip effectively directed the human resources, labor relations, and safety functions for over 6000 employees, in both union and union-free plants.

With 25 years of success in human resources roles under his belt, Phillip decided to utilize his extensive network of professional contacts in launching his executive recruiting business. Based primarily on word-of-mouth recommendations, Hardage Group has developed and sustained a database of over 32000 resumes and 800 fulfilled employment positions.

Phillip holds the Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) designation from the National Association of Personnel Consultants (NAPS), indicating professionalism in recruiting practices. He has been a member of the Wharton School University of Pennsylvania Human Resources Advisory Group, member of SHRM (with PHR certification), President of the West Tennessee Personnel Society, past President of the Jackson Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and past Chairman of the Dyersburg Literacy Council.
